I seriously have no idea how to handle social justice warriors. To be honest, I see a lot of posts from them that I don’t necessarily agree with, but I was curious where they were coming from with them, so I decided to ask. Apparently that was a huge mistake, because now I’m a racist asshole who is not worthy of their education. How can you preach your opinions to people, & then insult & ignore anyone that tries to understand? I DON’T GET THIS SHIT. I DON’T GET IT AT ALL.

i know, and i’m only part white(my mom’s parents come from mexico).

sjw’s love to cite this article below, which also has some fauly sj logic

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/colorblind/201112/colorblind-ideology-is-form-racism

geez, who how in hell did not judging people by their skin color become a form of racism.  i hate how they assume that if you don’t make a big deal about their skin color, that you must also ignore systematic racism, and support white supremacy.

You Can’t Take Me Anywhere: schmacky: It really really bothers me when people say Regina was…

undertheteacup:

Let’s say Regina did choose to run that day instead of taking Rumple’s magic:

She’d be suddenly thrust out into the open world as a girl who as a result of Cora’s…

No, I won’t go there and “do my homework.” I’m not going to play any race game. Any sexist game. Any whatever game. This talk just breeds more of it. Morgan Freeman is awesome and he has an awesome quote, “[the way to stop racism] Stop talking about it. I`m going to stop calling you a white man. And I`m going to ask you to stop calling me a black man.”

What I couldn’t believe in the section that I had previously quoted from you was that one - you thought Regina’s skin color had anything to do with her ability to survive in a forest and two - that you thought her sexual orientation (why are you assuming she’s gay?) had anything to do with her ability to survive in a forest. And three and four - that you thought the same with Snow.

If you want to go that route and breed that type of hate and prejudice.. be my guest.

Fine, then. Don’t.

Ignore the voices of people of color (and LGBTQ folks - oftentimes the very same people) telling you that to them, fandom tossing aside Regina’s race (and potential for queerness) is actually itself racist and oppressive (and heterosexist). Talking about this is actually the only chance we have of these things ever getting better.

But whatever. At least now people in the fandom know who to avoid.

I’d like to recommend this article on why the colorblindness you espouse is itself a form of racism, but I doubt you’ll read it. I’d love to be proven wrong though.

Why would Regina’s race even matter? Why should it matter? And how do you know I’m not one of the voices of color? I’m just like Lana actually. Father’s side is latino (Cuban) and mother’s side is Sicilian. So what? Who gives a crap? How do I view myself? Just me. I don’t call myself a white girl and I don’t call myself a latina. I actually call myself a mutt and proud of it. Why should I even think twice about what the race of a character on a TV show is? I don’t care. Why should I?

I’m sorry for assuming you are white. That was wrong of me.

It’s not my place to tell you how to relate to the character, or to care if you don’t want to.

But it’s a fact that Lana herself has said that Regina is a Latina character, and that this matters to Lana for interpreting Regina’s actions.

And I honestly do think you might be interested in at least taking a look at this thread, because it answers how other people see that exact question you’re asking: why do other people see Regina as Latina? And why is that important to them?

What does it matter if I’m latina or white? And is just my imagination or were you actually less hostile knowing I’m not 100% white than when you thought I was…

Well… the way I see it in this conversation, it matters because I’m white, so people like me oppress people like you and I am therefore in a position of power over you.

So yes, you are absolutely not imagining me being less hostile when I found out that detail. As a white person I have a responsibility to address racism and colorblindness when it comes from other whitepeople and sometimes that means being aggressive.

But it is NOT okay for me to tell someone who isn’t white how to relate to their own heritage, identity, experience, etc.

I don’t know, it’s complicated because I kinda feel like I am putting you in a box regardless by changing my attitude, because you’ve said that you don’t necessarily identify as a person of color and yet I am treating you differently. But you also did say that you don’t identify as white either so… basically I am just trying to be respectful of where you’re at.

Whereas I feel like I don’t owe fellow white people the same respect because most of the time it comes at the cost of devaluing the experiences and feelings of POC.

Wow. It’s people like you that allow racism to continue. Thanks for that.

It’s not complicated at all. It should go like this: don’t judge anyone by their skin color. Respect other people’s heritages. That doesn’t matter if it’s Cuban, Mexican, Italian, English, Chinese, Arabic, Ghanaian, whatever.

You should respect someone if their skin is black or white. It shouldn’t matter. You shouldn’t be aggressive to white people simply because you’re white and you think they think a certain way. The color my skin doesn’t dictate the way I view the world and yours shouldn’t either.

I find it absolutely disgusting and appalling that you would be aggressive and assume things about me simply because you thought I was white and when you found out that oh, I’m not 100% white you totally changed your tune. Here’s a lesson you might learn from all this….. stop assuming. And stop generalizing. And stop being racist with your faux war on racism. You’re keeping it alive.

Shut it down and be respectful of anyone. Dude… wow.

i agree, acussing everyone who has the ‘colorblind’ attitude towards one’s skin color/perceived ‘race’, of ignoring that systematic racism exists is stupid, and it just perpetuates racism even more.

So they are putting the 1963 film cleopatra  back on the big screen and i’m a bit offended…seeing as how cleopatra is played by a white woman because it was believed that the Egyptians were white DUE TO A BELIEF THAT BLACK PEOPLE COULDN’T HAVE POSSIBLY OF CREATED SUCH A SOPHISTICATED CIVILIZATION!!!! FUUUCKKK THIS SHIT MAKES ME SO FUCKING MAD!

a classic my ass

cleopatra was a greek woman, not an native egyptian, not sure if you consider greeks to be white, i don’t , but again not everyone agrees on who’s white and who isn’t. read the two links below to learn more about her. yes egypt has had many black pharohs like tutankhamen(not sure if i spelled his name right), and khufu.

“Colleges are breeding camps the Jews have set up, they want it to be a big soundproof rape room, where glorified black athletes are free to roam and mass rape, although many of the girls are so brainwashed they willingly consent to being raped by black athletes, and all the blacks they bring up from the hood on campus. It doesnt’ help that all the white guys worship these black athletes also, but what can you do, none of these people are going to wake up til they’re bound and shackled and it’s too late.

The fact the whole ‘Equal Opportunity” applies to women, blacks, etc, well white males are not the majority for christ’s sakes, the whole idea is such a blatant attempt to require black males and white females to work, go to school together and breed.

On many campuses now, you will see Satanic pyramids erected, the symbol of the satanic homosexual freemasons. It is a phallic symbol, ‘muh pyramid’, it is basicly a kind of sex magic spell they are casting over the people. These people are demonic witches, and ancient art of witchcraft, coupled with the media is a powerful cocktail of mass control.”

cultural appropriation isn’t always a bad thing, it depends on the context, ,gestures you make, and the reason why you are doing it. in your case, you are not disrespecting japanese culture.
